Dream Interpretation Seminar with Shaykh Adnaan Raja (Guidance Hub) @ Manchester Tickets
Oct 28 @ 10:30 am – 4:30 pm
Dream Interpretation Seminar with Shaykh Adnaan Raja (Guidance Hub) @ Manchester @ Waterloo Centre | England | United Kingdom

DESCRIPTION
What are dreams? Where are they from? What do they mean?
Islamic dream interpretation teaches us that a good dream is from God; an evil dream from Satan and other dreams are from one’s own thinking.

Dreams are a universal phenomenon, a messenger to us from the unknown. They are voices from our collective sub-conscious; warners of any disturbance to the psyche; bearer of glad tidings of good things to come; or echoes of happy, sad, or long hidden memories.

Guidance Hub have teamed up with ISNAD Insitute and Essential Islam for this unique course with Shaykh Adnaan Raja (Birmingham). Students will insha’Allah learn to critically analyse their dreams from an Islamic perspective, whilst building a foundation that allows them to categorise types of dreams and their relevant meaning.

Islamic Geometry Weekend Workshops (Samira Mian) @ Manchester Tickets
Nov 3 @ 11:00 am – Nov 4 @ 5:00 pm
Islamic Geometry Weekend Workshops (Samira Mian) @ Manchester @ The Art Space | England | United Kingdom

Whether you come to the one day Saturday or half day Sunday workshops, the principle of what we’ll do remains the same: We draw layers of lines and circles step by step using a compass and straight edge and create a complex underlying grid. From this a beautiful pattern emerges. We outline, trace and transfer the pattern to watercolour paper, to be decorated using watercolour pencils & paints.

In our full day Saturday workshops, we’ll explore several patterns before choosing the one that will be brought to life with colour. On Sundays, we will take one pattern through the stages to complete a colourful piece in watercolours.

The patterns created will be different for all workshop, So you can attend one or both of the weekend dates and learn something different each and every time. Each weekend will have a theme to allow us to gain greater insight in that particular era, location or family of patterns. Each time we’ll journey back in time to a different part of the Islamic Lands to celebrate the intellect of the unknown artists and geometers who created such beauty:

4th & 5th August: Ottoman architecture can be seen throughout Turkey and emerged in the 14th and 15th Century. The masjids of Istanbul create a distinct skyline of domes and minarets. The interiors of these buildings, the doors, doorways & minbars especially are often a treasure trove of Islamic Geometric Patterns. The carved stone sided minbars, the intricate wooden doors and the painted decoration of doorways all have a distinct style which set them apart from other patterns from across the Islamic world.

29th & 30th September: The Jerusalem Patterns come from Masjid Al Aqsa, a place and mosque of great historical & religious importance for muslims. Contained within it is the minbar of Saladin, an intricately designed wooden pulpit from the 12th century with a variety of different patterns coving each panel. It was placed in Masjid Al Aqsa, on the conquest of Jerusalem by Saladin where it remained for almost 800 years. In 1969 a great fire destroyed the minbar and much of the interior of the masjid. Thus begun the quest and project to reconstruct the Minbar. A project that was documented beautifully in the book The Minbar of Saladin: Reconstructing a Jewel of Islamic Art, by Lynette Singer and accompanying documentry, Stairway to Heaven.

3rd & 4th November: The intricate geometric Patterns of Morocco, or Al Maghreb, can be seen widely in the architecture and decorative arts. The maghrebi style of Morocco shares many similarities with the Andalusian style of Southern Spain, a nod to their shared history and the spread of Islam to these regions by the Ummayads in the 7th and 8th Century CE. In Morocco, it continued to develop and become more distinctly Moroccan under the under the Nasrid and Merinid Dynasties, flourishing especially in the 14th Century. The Zellige tilework made from individually chiseled geometric tiles set into a plaster base are used widely to ornament walls, ceilings, fountains, floors, pools and tables. My favourite buildings in Fes, Medrassa Bou Innania and Medressa Attarine epitomise this intricate & sophisticated beauty.

All the workshops are suitable for participants aged 14+, no experience is needed and all resources & materials are provided. A pack of watercolour, tracing and drawing paper is given to each participant, with spare papers to take home. A step by step PDF guide for the patterns created in the workshop is also emailed to every participant. Maximum capacity of 12, so please book your place in advance using the PayPal button. Any questions, feel free to contact me. All bookings receive a confirmation by email, please be sure your check your PayPal account email address junk mail or spam folder.

CANCELLATION POLICY :

If more than 14 days in advance of the workshop: A full refund or transfer to an equivalent workshop on an alternative date.

If 7 to 14 days in advance of the workshop: I can transfer your place to an equivalent workshop on an alternative date.

Less than 7 days in advance of the workshop: I’m afraid I am unable to offer a refund nor transfer to an equivalent workshop on an alternative date. I appreciate that sometimes unforeseen circumstances may mean that you can’t attend, so please do consider sending along a friend to take your place. DESCRIPTION
This is the story of a Victorian, white, working-class northerner, a most conservative man, who rose to become the Mayor of Stalybridge and yet who subsequently shocked his peer group, when in 1898, he converted to Islam. For nearly 100 years his family completely hid the truth. But in 1991, his own Great Great Great Grandson became a Muslim; having no idea whatsoever of this fascinating history.

Come and hear more about Robert Reschid Stanley; close friend of Quilliam, proud citizen of the UK, and fierce critic of the British Government’s foreign policy. Meet Christina Longden, his Great Great Great Granddaughter who is writing a book about him, and Steven Longden her brother, who has been following in the footsteps of his ancestor, in more ways than one.

Fiqh of Prayer – One Day Intensive Taught (Ustadh Muhammad Ali) @ Manchester Tickets
Jan 27 @ 10:30 am – 5:00 pm
Fiqh of Prayer - One Day Intensive Taught (Ustadh Muhammad Ali) @ Manchester @ Waterloo Centre | England | United Kingdom

DESCRIPTION
One day intensive taught by Ustadh Muhammad Ali. Open to males and females. Limited places available.

Introduction
Prayer, or Salah as it is called in Arabic, is the means for human beings to communicate with Allah Almighty. It is, in the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him), what distinguishes a believer from a non-believer. In fact, the importance of the 5 daily prayers can be understood from the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: “The prayer is the coolness of my eye.”

The question you should ask yourself is, am I praying correctly? The Prophet, (peace be upon him) instructed us to pray just as he did. So how did he pray exactly? What if I’m running late for something; can I delay the prayer? How do I make up years of missed prayers?

This intensive and detailed unit will answer these very questions and much more. This unit has been designed to enlighten you and teach you about the outer rulings of prayers and its inner spiritual meanings so that you can pray to Allah with both body and heart.

Seminar Objectives:
Understanding the significance of prayer.
Understanding how prayer is affected by extenuating circumstances.
Understanding the spiritual implications of prayer.
Understanding the detailed legal rules of prayer.
What will I learn?
You will learn about:

Who is required to pray? When? How many times a day?
The key components of prayer, its etiquettes, and method based on the Quran and Hadith.
What nullifies the prayer and what does not
The pre-requisites of prayer.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this seminar, you should be able to:

Describe the Prophetic method of praying.
Evaluate the underlying reasons for some differences regarding the method of prayer.
Explain how to make up missed prayers.
Explain a variety of other issues related to prayer.

Shirk, Bid’ah & Tawassul – Reality, Meaning & Application – Day Intensive (Guidance Hub) @ Manchester Tickets
Feb 24 @ 10:30 am – 5:00 pm
Shirk, Bid'ah & Tawassul - Reality, Meaning & Application - Day Intensive (Guidance Hub) @ Manchester @ Waterloo Centre | England | United Kingdom

DESCRIPTION
What is tawassul? why is it a controversial topic?

Is it shirk? what constitutes shirk?

Muslims often come across such questions and often have no point of reference to provide an answer. Most Muslims simply follow what theyve heard or which speaker/writer can best articulate his/her point. Lacking objectivty and understanding of the principles and maxims of Islamic religious thought and practice the result is an incorrect and precarious understanding.

Mawlid is bid’ah! it is bid’ah to have prayer beads!

Then there comes the accusation of misguidance, blasphemy and heresy for those who carry out certain practices that exist around the Muslim world. We will provide a clear discourse on how actions are categorised in Islam. The conecpt of bid’ah (innovation) along with sunnah and related matters will be presented.

Topics Covered:
Worship
Shirk
Tawheed
Tawassul
Istighathah
Sunnah
Bid’ah
Each topic will be addressed in an in depth and structured manner. The aim is to provide all participants the principles and sources which explain and define for all Muslims what is and what is not acceptable in Islam. No confusion should remain after attending this seminar.
