This course will explore illuminated geometry of the Islamic world. We will draw inspiration from the exquisite illuminated masterpieces of Mamluk Egypt, and Morocco, amongst others.

Students will learn how to construct designs with a compass and ruler, then paint their work using traditional Islamic manuscript illumination techniques.

Who is this course for?
All levels and abilities are welcome.

What do I need to bring to class?
Students will be asked to bring their own brushes. Sizes will be specified closer to the start of the course.

It is helpful, but not required, to bring your own palette with wells so you can take home pigment and continue working on your piece as needed.

What days do I attend?
Monday – Friday
