DAY 1 – 24 October

Arrival in Marrakech airport at. The guide will meet you outside the concourse doors ( just outside the airport) .
The transport (private air conditioned minibus/es from 8 to 17 seater) will be waiting for the group. Departure to Ouarzazate and the Hotel: The journey should take about 4 hours. Night in Hotel Oscar in Ouarzazate or similar Dinner (not necessarily in Hotel)

• Accommodation will be in shared rooms with air conditioning and en suite facilities.
• Electronic device charging and wifi available
• Note: 2 pin round plugs needed and the electricity supply is 110V

DAY 2 – 25 October

Following an early breakfast, we transfer at 7am from our Hotel and set off into the desert. Our driving route goes along the Draa Valley – a long, stunning palm filled oasis with rocky mountains and Hamada (rock desert) on each side. After approximately 4 hours’ drive (260 km), discounting photo and tea stops, we arrive at M’hamid – the gateway of the desert. We’ll stop here and have an early lunch, before setting of into the dunes. It’s a short trek of about 4 hours to get us into the spirit of trekking in the desert. We end our trek at our camp near the Kellat Jmal FB

• Approx 4 hour trek no climb (routes may vary from trip to trip as dunes change with wind etc.)
• Accommodation- 3 person tents for 2 person occupancy, mess tents, mattresses and camping equipment provided. Sleeping bags and pillows not provided.
• Toilet tents
• Mobile coverage (Meditel/French Orange only) low levels , but present
• No charging available. Suggest personal charger with solar panel
• Camels will carry most kit to overnight Camp, so day rucksacks needed only
• 2 bottles x 1.5l mineral water per person.

DAY 3 – 26 October
Following breakfast at camp, we set off with our camel trains . Our trek today winds its way through the dunes, hamada and acacia oases towards tonight’s camp at the foot of the Bougarn dunes.
• Approx. 15-20km walk no climb, sand and rocky terrain approx. 6hrs
• Camping as above
• Mobile reception throughout trek. Occasionally patchy behind a dune
• No charging available. Suggest personal charger with solar panel
• Camels will carry most kit to overnight Camp, so day rucksacks needed only
• 2 bottles x 1.5l mineral water per person.

DAY 4 – 27 October
In the early morning we’ll have breakfast, and then climb up to the top of the Chigaga Dunes (100m plus). Upon reaching the top, we’ll rest and wait for the amazing sun to rise over the Sahara. After a short rest, we push on with our desert challenge towards our camp, which is about 6 hours away FB
• About 15 km, 6 hrs trek approx. short climb.

DAY 5 – 28 October
It’s a short walk to our waiting transport in the dunes (2 hrs) to our Hotel in Ouarzazate – Dinner included (not lunch) Hotel Oscar.
• Approx.190 km drive and about 4 hrs travelling
• Mobile reception throughout trek. Occasionally patchy behind a dune
• No charging available. Suggest personal charger with solar panel
• Accommodation will be in shared rooms with air conditioning and en suite facilities.
• Electronic device charging and wifi available
• Note: 2 pin round plugs needed and the electricity supply is 110V
• Dinner is 2 courses , soft drink extra

DAY 6 – 29 October
Following an early breakfast we take the road through the High Atlas to Marrakech, see the Kasbah of Ait ben Haddou and arrive in the afternoon (about 4-5 hours travelling) – a chance to explore the souks and palaces of the old medina. Night in Hotel Racine or similar B&B

DAY – 7 – 30 October
Transfer to the airport in Marrakech for departure .

• 2 nights Riad accommodation in Ouarzazate (en route to desert and on exit the desert), twin share, B&B basis

PLEASE NOTE:
• Al-Khair Foundation must be advised regarding your dietary requirements if any when WHEN REGISTERING ie gluten free, allergies, vegetarian, vegan, diabetic etc all food is halal

• Al-Khair Foundation must be informed of any Medical problems ie joint problems, heart problems, etc when registering so that the guides and first aiders are aware just in case

• Clothes – men ok to wear shorts and short sleeved t-shirts / women to adhere to Islamic code wear trousers and long sleeve long tunics

• No trolleys or suitcases allowed on trek – these can be stored in a secure place with jamal jamal before start of trek in Marrakech and then retrieved after trek is over

• Advisable to have both desert walking boots and sandals

• Advisable to have two rucksacks one heavy duty for sleeping bags and other items to be stored and retrieved every night at the tents and second smaller one to carry water and other items during the walk in the daytime

• 3litres of water will be supplied for the walk and evening and snacks of nuts during the walk please note any more water will needed to be purchased from the guides

• Tayamum can be done in the sand for wudhu as water is precious commodity

• A Morrocan chip can be bought at the airport as long as you have an unlocked mobile otherwise the guides when they meet you will help facilitate buying of a chip

• It is better to exchange money outside of the airport as it is expensive in the airport – the guides can help to facilitate this for you once you arrive
